Eater’s Pet

Which is the best restaurant in your city?

Ben was a pogi (handsome) neighbour, according to mum

Four-eyed, tall, with healthy dark brown hair, resembled Harry Potter wham

His network, Ben’s WiFi, wasn’t generic like Vodafone pocket wifi

Others were more creative, see also: Haus of Otto, The Jedi Temple, or I Believe Wi can Fi

Sometimes, Ben took the same train home at Redfern

He was white and taciturn

His housemate strummed the guitar a wannabe heavyweight they split the rent

One Saturday, Ben pretended to ascend he did not relent

Two goes later, he headed up

Held a container yup

I related this to Dad overseas

‘May ataman yan’: he has a pet worm jeez

He often brings home takeaway

Exactly, Dad said, pogi’s pets can’t resist the gastronomy

Mum ate at this local Thai

Got tom yum friend rice very spicy needed iced chai

While waiting, Ben appeared and considered the Siamese faves

Mum recognised him he beamed didn’t order but waved

The owner was decent

Seeing mum’s plate undiminished she refunded her dinner wasn’t complacent

Ben left when I lived with auntie

Probably letting a new room though not in Bronte

Still buying takeaway? Has a family?

I can but wonder, one thing’s for sure: he’s gotta address that insatiable tummy.
